John McCarthy - Father of Artificial Intelligence

John McCarthy is often called the "Father of Artificial Intelligence". He was an American mathematician, computer scientist and founder of artificial intelligence. He coined the term "artificial intelligence" in 1955 and organized the first artificial intelligence conference at Dartmouth College in 1956.

John McCarthy is one of the "founding fathers" of artificial intelligence, together with Alan Turing, Marvin Minsky, Allen Newell, and Herbert A. Simon.

McCarthy was born in 1927 in California. He received a degree in mathematics from Stanford University in 1948, and then a degree in computer science from Princeton University. He joined Dartmouth College as a professor in 1954, a position he held until 1957.
